The Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), is a higher education institution founded in 1982 as the result of an initiative created by the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana (Institute of Iberian-American Cooperation) and a Managing Committee in the Dominican Republic. Since its foundation, UNIBE has trained over 7,000 professionals, most of them with scholarships, and has excelled at preparing them in different areas.

Young professionals have been educated within a framework of leadership, to further promote the country's social, economic, and moral growth, as well as fostering national values within the realms of justice and freedom.

The University is a young institution that places special emphasis in the development of high quality social programs with social relevance, working together with a faculty body with outstanding academic preparation and professional experience.

• The university offers 15 different career tracks and seven graduate programs, as well as endorsing five additional graduate programs
• The faculty body has 593 professors and 290 employees in the administrative area.
• The university has approximately 4,000 students, of which 22% are international students from 18 countries
• Since 1987, UNIBE has managed federal loans offered by the United States Government to students who are citizens or residents of that country
• The institution has quality certifications such as the Excellence in Education Honor Award 2005, presented by the Iberian-American Council
• It has been recognized by the Puerto Rico Board of Medical Examiners and the World Health Organization for the teaching quality of its Medical School
• UNIBE is a member of more than 15 national and international associations
• The university has agreements with 17 international universities, such as Boston University, the American University, The Sorbonne, and the Autonomous University of Madrid
